HOUSE SYSTEM
Our School Houses
Our House system for Key Stage 2 is designed to foster a strong sense of camaraderie, belonging, and friendly competition among our pupils.
Houses serve as a supportive community where students can develop essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience, and sportsmanship.
We have four houses named after different fruits of friendship with God. You’ll find out more about them below.

Fedelta
“Just like the bear, stand tall and wise…
In Fedelta you’ll earn your prize.”
Fedelta (Italian), the House of faithfulness, stands as a symbol of commitment, perseverance, and trustworthiness. Represented by the mighty bear, it embodies resilience and steadfastness, always encouraging its members to support one another and stand firm in their values.
Cloaked in green, the colour of growth and renewal, Fedelta inspires pupils to cultivate integrity and remain true to their beliefs. Guided by the motto E Pluribus Unum—”Out of many, one”—this House celebrates unity and collective strength, reminding every member that together, they can achieve greatness.

Armastus
“With the House of the wolf, you’ll chase your dreams,
In Armastus, where adventure gleams.”
Armastus (Estonian), the house representing the fruit of friendship love, stands for deep connections, loyalty, and the courage to care for others. Represented by the steadfast wolf, it reflects the power of community and the bonds of friendship and trust.
Draped in bold blue, the colour of depth and devotion, Armastus inspires its members to act with kindness, compassion, and support for one another. With the motto Sapere Aude—”Dare to know”—this House encourages pupils to lead with both heart and mind, showing that true love is not just a feeling but a commitment to growth, understanding, and the pursuit of wisdom.

Maluhia
“In Maluhia, see vistas wide,
With the falcon as your guide.”
Maluhia (Hawaiian), the House of peace, embodies harmony, wisdom, and the quiet strength that comes from inner calm. Represented by the soaring falcon, it symbolizes clarity of vision and the ability to rise above adversity with grace.
Cloaked in regal purple, the colour of dignity and reflection, Maluhia encourages its members to seek understanding, resolve conflicts with wisdom, and bring balance to their community. Guided by the motto Ad Astra Per Aspera—”From Adversity to the Stars”—this House reminds pupils that true peace is not passive but achieved through perseverance, resilience, and the pursuit of higher ideals.

Kebaikan
“With a tiger’s courage and a heart of might,
Kebaikan lights the darkest night.”
Kebaikan (Malay), the House of kindness, champions the power of empathy, generosity, and courage. Represented by the fierce yet noble tiger, it reminds its members that true strength lies in treating others with compassion and standing up for what is right. Dressed in vibrant orange, the colour of warmth and energy, Kebaikan radiates positivity and encourages acts of goodwill.
With the motto Fortes Fortuna Adiuvat—”Fortune favours the bold” — this House teaches that kindness is not just about gentleness, but also the courage to do good, even in the face of challenges.

Tournaments
Teamwork and Triumph
Throughout the year, the Houses have competed in a variety of challenges, each testing different skills. The House Times Table Challenge saw pupils racing to prove their mathematical mastery, while the House Christmas Tournament mixed festive fun with competition. The General Knowledge Quiz challenged teams to showcase their learning and quick thinking. Sports Day brought thrilling displays of athleticism and teamwork, with every effort contributing to the standings. The House Rounders Tournament closed the year with strategy, skill, and summer excitement. Each event has strengthened House spirit, built camaraderie, and given every pupil a chance to shine.

The House Sorting Ceremony
In KS2, one of the most exciting moments for pupils at The Cathedral School is the House Sorting Ceremony, where they officially join one of our four school houses.
At the heart of the ceremony is our mysterious Sorting Chair, steeped in tradition and excitement. As each new pupil takes their place on the chair, a hush falls over the room. With a touch of magic the chair reveals their house!
Cheers erupt from fellow housemates, welcoming their newest member with applause and encouragement. From that moment on, they are part of a team—earning points, competing in challenges, and upholding the values that make our school special.

Our History
House points
Pupils earn House Points for going above and beyond in their daily school life, whether through exceptional effort, outstanding achievements, acts of kindness, or exemplary behaviour. Live House Point totals are displayed throughout the day, allowing pupils to see their contributions making a real impact in real-time. This ongoing tally fosters a sense of excitement and motivation, reinforcing teamwork, determination, and a shared sense of pride in their achievements.
