Religious Education and Collective Worship
Parents do have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE) and from collective worship, in line with the Education Act 1996 and subsequent guidance.
- A parent wishing to do so must make a formal request in writing to the Headteacher, specifying whether they wish to withdraw their child from all RE, from certain aspects of RE, or from collective worship only.
- The school will acknowledge the request in writing and confirm the arrangements to ensure the child is appropriately supervised during the period of withdrawal.
- Alternative provision is not required to be provided by the school, but supervision will always be arranged so the child remains safe and accounted for.
