Stars of the week: Thomas & Annabella
This week in Class 4, the children have been developing new skills in DT by learning a range of stitching techniques, including the running stitch, back stitch, and blanket stitch. They have practised these methods carefully and explored how each technique can be used for different purposes. The class has also been considering how they can apply these skills to their own designs and projects in the coming weeks.
In English, the children have continued their work on The Iron Man by exploring a range of different writing genres. They created imaginative recipes to suit the Iron Man’s unusual diet, wrote letters of apology from Hogarth’s perspective after trapping him in a pit, and produced newspaper reports covering the creature’s first sighting. These activities have helped the children develop their creativity while applying key writing skills, including persuasive language, formal tone, and accurate use of expanded noun phrases.
