Stars of the Week: Masroor and Ava

On the final day of last term, Y6 went to St Paul’s Cathedral and climbed the dome, a climb of over 500 steps! First, they explored the Whispering Gallery, a circular corridor in which you can whisper down one end and the echo is sent all the way around. Next was the Stone Gallery, another 200 steps up, and this was where the children got a 360-degree view of London. They were interested to see how different the design of particular areas of central London was; from the towering city, to the lower areas around Westminster, and how the river meanders around. Finally, another 100 steps up, was the highest section – the Golden Gallery. This section was incredibly cramped and the children did very well to climb to narrow steps to reach the top. At the top was the best view in London – some children even thought a distant telephone line was the Eiffel Tower in Paris!
