Stars of the Week: Annabella & Jonah
This week, we created our own poems based on The Song of Hiawatha by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. We started by looking at the poem and its features. After we read through this narrative poem, we discovered that each line had eight syllables and certain words or phrases were repeated for effect.
Throughout the week, we planned our own poems based on this one. We thought of a simple narrative to tell, then created our own word banks using ambitious vocabulary. Finally, we published them in our books and performed them to our peers!
