This week in Reception, we read <\/span>The Colour Monster<\/span><\/i> and talked about different feelings and emotions. We then collected natural materials outside and used them to create our own emotion faces.<\/span><\/p>\n

This\u00a0 Week in Reception:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

What a wonderful start to the year we have had in Reception! The children have settled into their new routines so well and have already shown such enthusiasm, kindness and curiosity. We have been so impressed with how confidently they are beginning to explore their new classroom, make new friends and take part in our daily learning. We are very excited for a busy term ahead and all the new experiences it will bring.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of our Understanding the World learning this week, we read <\/span>The Colour Monster<\/span><\/i> and explored the different feelings and emotions in the story. We talked together about times when we might feel happy, sad, angry, calm or worried, and discussed how our faces and bodies can help to show how we are feeling.<\/span><\/p>\n

We then took our learning outdoors and explored the natural environment, collecting sticks, leaves, stones and other interesting materials. The children used what they had found to create their own nature faces representing different emotions. They thought very carefully about how they could arrange the materials to show different facial expressions and were brilliant at explaining which emotion their face represented and why.<\/span><\/p>\n

It has been lovely to see the children learning about themselves, one another and the world around them. We are so impressed with Reception already and cannot wait to see what they achieve this term!<\/span><\/p>\n
