We worked hard to vary our sentence structures to add impact for the reader. We also thought about what other features we needed to include as well \u2013 speech, adverbials, varied punctuation, ambitious language \u2013 and tried to make sure we included this as well. We hope you enjoy some extracts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The lamp flickered faster. The shadow leaned in next to his ear and whispered, &#8220;You are mine now!&#8221;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>He heard a shriek in the distance like a sinister laugh. It was louder than the other bellows and calls which echoed through the murky forest.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>I gasped. My stomach flipped and my heart started to thump. Suddenly, the light flickered and two bloodshot eyes were staring back at me.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Something snapped in Talia. She tried to run, but the doors locked instantly. Sweat engulfed her palms and her heart pounded vigorously. Then the lights flickered&#8230; once&#8230;twice&#8230;<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Crash! I heard glass shatter all over the floor.
