Stars of the week: Tara & Thomas
Class 4 completed an investigation into toothpaste. They used enamel tiles, tooth brushes, stopwatches and toothpaste to find out which toothpaste was the most effective. They used a table to record the smell, colour, cost, cleaning time and ingredients of the toothpaste they were testing. We discussed ways to make sure the test was fair by discussing and implementing things we would control such as the amount of toothpaste and how hard we would brush. They would be keen to share their interesting results.
In Math, the children have been using mental addition and subtraction to complete 2 digit by 2 digit problems using mental strategies like partitioning and counting on.
In English, the class are well on their way to finishing a published piece from the perspective of a Viking and the things they may experience in a day. Using a diary entry format they have considered and expressed the feelings of a Viking as they explore, raid and sail.
