🌟 Stars of the Week: Rafael and Billie

Rafael and Billie are our Stars of the Week for their fantastic observational skills in our science lesson. Class 1 carefully observed, drew, and labelled flowers and trees found in our local area, showing great attention to detail in their work like real scientists.

This Week in Class 1:

This week in Science, Class 1 began our new topic all about plants. To bring our learning to life, we visited the school’s Peace Garden to explore and identify different trees and flowers in our local environment.

During our walk, we spotted some familiar plants such as daisies and dandelions growing around the garden. Some children also noticed a beautiful blossom tree just outside the school gates and were excited to talk about the delicate flowers. We spent time looking closely at two of our larger trees: the silver birch and the sycamore. We discussed what makes them different, such as the colour and texture of their bark and the shapes of their leaves.

After our exploration, Class 1 returned to the classroom to draw and label what they had seen. The children carefully sketched plants and included key parts such as the roots, stem, leaves and flowers. It was wonderful to see their growing observational skills and the detail they included in their work.

Have a lovely weekend,Β
