🌟 Stars of the Week: Zofia and Mia

Zofia and Mia are Stars of the Week because of their excellent active listening during our music lesson. Class 1 showed great enthusiasm when responding thoughtfully to the music inspired by the sea, using actions to bring the sounds of the sea to life.

This Week in Class 1:

This week in music, Class 1 explored songs and music inspired by the sea with Mrs Chan. They began by listening to and learning the song ‘Sailor, Sailor on the Sea.’ The children practised listening carefully before joining in with the singing and rocked gently from side to side to feel the beat. They also played a fun treasure box instrument game, where the children listened to the sound of a hidden instrument and tried to identify it by its timbre.

Later, they listened to ‘Dawn’ from Benjamin Britten’s Sea Interludes and imagined the sea at sunrise. The children closed their eyes to listen carefully and then responded to three musical ideas with actions: sea birds, ocean spray and crashing waves.
