🌟 Stars of the Week: Dhara and Alexandra

Well done Dhara and Alexandra for your observations during our science lesson on everyday materials. You were able to describe what different objects around school are made of.

This Week in Class 1:

This week, the children were excited to begin their new science topic on Everyday Materials. We started by talking about the different materials that objects around us can be made from, such as plastic, metal, glass and wood. The children enjoyed sharing their ideas and identifying materials they already knew.

We then went on a materials hunt around the school, looking carefully for objects made from each of these materials. This helped the children see how materials are used in different ways in our everyday environment.

As part of our learning, we also noticed that materials can have different properties. For example, we discovered that a wooden door feels smooth, while a tree trunk feels rough, even though they are both made from wood. This sparked some great discussions and thoughtful observations.

We will continue our investigation into everyday materials throughout the term, building on our understanding of their properties and uses. Eventually, the children will use their learning to design and create their own space suits.

Have a lovely weekend.
