🌟 Stars of the Week: Kadija and Caragh

Well done Kadija and Caragh for using accurate vocabulary to give clear commands to the Beebot in computing. Class 1 learnt about the importance of giving accurate commands to a robot.

This Week in Class 1:

The children have settled back in wonderfully after the Christmas break and quickly got themselves stuck into their learning this term.

This week in computing, we were excited to begin our new programming topic all about moving robots. We learned that robots are machines that are designed to help make human life easier by carrying out different tasks. However, we also discovered that robots cannot work on their own. It is our job to programme them and give clear commands so they know exactly what to do.

In our first lesson, we explored the Beebot and carefully looked at the different buttons on it. We talked about what each button does and the commands we can give, such as moving forwards, backwards, and turning. This helped us understand how important it is to use accurate vocabulary when programming.

To finish the lesson, we watched the Beebot complete a course. We then challenged ourselves to think like programmers by guessing which buttons had been pressed to make it move in that way. It was a great introduction to our topic, and the children are looking forward to learning more about programming robots in the coming weeks.

Have a lovely weekend.
