🌟 Stars of the Week: Mia and WonuÂ
Mia and Wonu are stars of the week for their effort and enthusiasm when practising Spanish greetings like ‘hola’ and ‘como estas?’ on Spanish Day.Â
This Week in Class 1:
Spanish Day was a wonderful celebration of language and culture throughout the school. From the moment the children arrived, the excitement was clear!
This year, our class was assigned the country Peru, and the children embraced this with enthusiasm. We explored key facts about this fascinating country, discovering that its capital city is Lima, that alpacas and llamas are commonly found there, and that Peru has a population of roughly 34 million people. Using this new knowledge, the children created fact files to share with the pupils in Class 2 and Class 5. They took great pride in becoming ‘Peru experts’ for the day!
Alongside our research, we also spent time practising Spanish conversational phrases. The children confidently greeted each other with ‘hola’ and asked ‘¿cómo estás?’ as they moved around the room. It was wonderful to see how quickly they picked up the language and how keen they were to use it throughout the day. Lots of children practised saying ‘gracias’ for their special Spanish day lunch too.Â
Our crafty side also came to life as we made traditional-style Spanish fans. The children decorated them before using them as props in their very own flamenco dance performances. Have a look at photos from Spanish day below.Â
Collective Worship
Please continue to support your child to practise their lines over the weekend. Our collective worship is on Tuesday 25th November at 9am in the hall.Â
DT
For DT, the children will be making lunch boxes for their marmalade sandwiches. Please can you send in a shoe box and washed out plastic containers from your recycling. For example, yoghurt pots, grapes tray etc. Thank you for your support in this.
Have a lovely weekend.
