🌟 Stars of the Week: Liv and Leiys
Liv and Leiys showed fantastic effort in maths this week, using containers to accurately show full, empty, nearly full, and nearly empty. They also learned the difference between volume and capacity.
This Week in Class 1
This week, we dove (not literally… mostly) into our new maths topic: volume and capacity! We started by learning the difference between the two — capacity is the maximum amount a container can hold, and volume is the amount it actually holds. We used terms like full, empty, nearly full, and nearly empty to describe what we saw.
With the sun shining, we headed outside armed with jugs, cups, tubs, and buckets. It was the perfect way to cool off while putting our learning into action — and we’re fairly sure the playground is now a little cleaner, too!
For the rest of the week, we focused on measuring and comparing volumes and capacities using different units. The class did an amazing job — even if they secretly wished every maths lesson involved water and sunshine
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Kandiah
