Class 1’s Tower Bridge Adventure!

Last week, Class 1 went on a very exciting school trip to one of London’s most famous landmarks — Tower Bridge. We set off on foot from school in the warm sunshine, full of excitement for the day ahead. When we arrived, we took the lift all the way to the top of the bridge. From there, we explored both the east and west walkways, enjoying the amazing views across the River Thames.

One of the most memorable parts of the trip was walking over the glass floor. Some children walked across very slowly, others lay down to look at the road below, and a few even pretended to be stuck to the glass. We had fun spotting lots of famous buildings in the London skyline, including St Paul’s Cathedral, the Walkie Talkie, and the Shard.

After that, we visited the engine rooms, where we learnt about how Tower Bridge was operated before electricity. The big machines and old engines helped us understand how much work went into lifting the bridge in the past. We also discovered some fascinating facts — like how 40,000 people use Tower Bridge every day, and the incredible story of the flying bus in 1952, which jumped across the bridge when it started to rise unexpectedly. The children had a great time exploring and learning all about this important piece of London’s geography..
